Low-pressure UV-C lamps emit ultraviolet light that breaks the DNA bonds of micro-organisms, so bacteria, viruses and parasites lose the ability to replicate — a sterilization rate of over 99%, with no chemicals added and no toxic by-products.
It is the final barrier — after mechanical and biological filtration, before the water returns to the tank — keeping pathogens from recirculating back to the fish.
A standard dose is around 30 mJ/cm², and a reflective inner-wall treatment maximises UV exposure inside the cavity to roughly double the effective dose; the dose can be increased for specific species or pathogens.
Yes — the chamber is HDPE/PP or 304/316 stainless steel for fresh- and sea-water duty, with a quartz sleeve protecting each lamp and quick, simple lamp replacement.
Yes — it's a flow-through inline unit that plumbs directly into a pipe, whether that's a full RAS loop or a simple inline UV light for pond duty on a smaller system; the same 15–300 m³/h model range covers both.
Both kill pathogens without leaving chemical residue, but they work differently: UV needs clear water and line-of-sight contact, while an ozone generator for aquaculture also oxidises dissolved organics and can be dosed upstream of the tank. Many RAS farms run UV as the final barrier and add ozone earlier in the loop for extra water-quality benefit; SIGMA can size either or both for your system.
